Congratulations Mark Webster, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer on his induction into the University of Washington’s Construction Industry Hall of Fame!

Mark has been part of the Pacific Northwest construction landscape since 1982 after graduating from Seattle University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He worked briefly with a local engineering firm prior to joining MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions in 1985. He has been with MacDonald-Miller ever since holding several key roles within the organization over those 37 years. He is currently the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, responsible for all MacDonald-Miller’s field operation teams.

Mark has been a leader at MacDonald-Miller from the beginning of his career as a construction project manager working on some of the most complex jobs. His dedication and professionalism saw him climb the ranks.

In the mid 2000’s Mark inspired a LEAN construction and manufacturing culture throughout the project management and field operations teams. This effort began with a massive reorganization of our fabrication shop resulting in a reduction in waste, increase in productivity and improved quality execution.

Over the last 20 years Mark has been pushing the envelope with prefabrication eventually leading to the prominence of Multi-Trade Racks in recent years. The innovation in this space has ultimately pushed the local industry to adopt similar approaches to the point where most commercial buildings being constructed locally are utilizing this approach beyond traditional prefabrication.

When Mark began leading all field operations at MacDonald-Miller in 2007, he made safety a top priority. The safety culture was good, however under his leadership it became exceptional. He was instrumental in recruiting and hiring an extraordinary Safety Team that were to focus on an active and engaging safety approach. He heavily invested in safety training, innovative safety tools, and technology.

Mark continues to support and improve upon a project management rotation program within MacDonald-Miller that has entry level project managers rotating through estimating, detailing & engineering to round out their project management development. Mark also supports a robust internship program that routinely places 10 to 15 engineering and construction management students annually in various roles throughout the organization to provide valuable real-world experiences. He ensures that we recruit from several local universities across the west including the UW CBE Construction Management Program.

Congratulations Mark

Thank you for the decades of service at MacDonald-Miller!
