Washington State Convention Center Addition Update:

MacMiller’s finest have set the very last of 35 Air Handling units at the WSCC Addition project!

Over the last 2 years our crews from  Local 66 Sheet metal workers and Local 32 Pipefitters have set more than a million pounds of air handling unit sections.

“Tens of thousands of man hours are associated with this work in challenging conditions. Most of this work was done on nights, weekends, and swing shifts, taking time away from their loved ones to help make this project a success. We are very grateful for the sacrifices that were made to get us to this point.

Of the 35 air handing units not one of them is identical. We set the first units 40’ below Boren avenue in September of 2019. We set the last air handing unit early this morning 11/23/2021 200 feet above 9th Ave, 500’ feet to the west of the first units.

Planning these crane picks and access into the building began back in 2016, orchestrating how every single one of the 152 sections were going to get into 15 different mechanical rooms, using 14 different outriggers, scattered throughout the challenging building. Nearly 6 years later we have set the last section!

Hundreds of field crews were called on to deliver, rig, push, pull, winch, jack, roll, and burke these units into their final locations and I won’t be able to name them all but a special thanks to Norven Betts, Larue Clemmons, Kyle Wolever, Dennis Larsen, Jerry Peyton, Luke Bergquist, Donald Good, Frankie Ragland and their crews for doing the impossible.  I am incredibly proud of the work all of you put into getting us to this milestone!”
