Safety Director MacDonald-Miller

Every Employee’s Responsibility

“I have worked for some well-respected companies in my career, but none of them can compete with our safety culture. The Safety Department can create all the safety policies you can think of, provide all the necessary training, but it only takes one employee to make one lapse in judgement and end up being involved in a life ending or life changing accident, so I thank each and every MacDonald-Miller employee for making the conscience decision to work safely each and every day. All MacMiller employees not only have the authority to stop unsafe work, but we also all have the responsibility to stop unsafe work. Nothing is more important than ensuring every employee goes home each and every day. “ – Lee Pyfrom, Director of Safety.

Award Winning Safety

MacDonald-Miller’s prefabrication shop received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the Washington State Division of Occupational Safety and Health. VPP sites are committed to effective employee protection beyond the requirements of OSHA standards.  VPP participants develop and implement systems to effectively identify, evaluate, prevent, and control occupational hazards to prevent employee injuries and illnesses.  As a result, the average VPP worksite has a lost workday incidence rate more than 50% below the average of its industry.

Safety

Everyone deserves a safe workplace.

Safety is more than hardhats and boots, it’s an attitude and the environment we create. Every day, everyone goes home to their families.

“Safety is our first priority at MacMiller. There have been a few times our clients have reached out for assistance in the safety arena. Working with our clients really makes it clear how well trained we are and a leader in safety.”

Jeff Pattengale, South Sound Operations Manager
