Project Description
MacDonald-Miller partnered with Ameresco to deliver a campus-wide energy retrofit for Seattle Central College, totaling over $4 million in ESCO contracts. The project focused on modernizing mechanical and control systems to improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and enhance long-term campus performance. MacDonald-Miller’s scope included:
Mechanical Systems – Upgraded more than 300 steam and chilled water valves to improve reliability and system control.
Controls Integration – Converted the college’s pneumatic controls system to a modern Honeywell Tridium platform, enabling centralized management and improved responsiveness.
Building Analytics – Developed a custom analytics dashboard with fault detection and diagnostics for proactive maintenance and real-time performance tracking.
Plumbing & Infrastructure – Completed a food service remodel in the Broadway Edison Building, including removal and relocation of existing plumbing and electrical systems to accommodate new service layouts.
The project exceeded performance expectations, achieving $320,364 in verified annual energy savings, 37% above Ameresco’s guaranteed savings. Through innovation, integration, and precise execution, MacDonald-Miller helped Seattle Central College create a more efficient, connected, and sustainable campus for the future.
