Boeing Longacres

MacDonald-Miller provided the following panel upgrades in response to the request from Boeing to upgrade the existing obsolete chiller panels and provide an alternate to the standard Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) deliverable. The upgrade allowed Boeing to receive equal performance and in some cases improvements above the factory OEM panel. When repairs occur this option can be 10 times less costly for materials and gives MacDonald-Miller the ability to monitor water GPM and most analog or digital inputs the customer would like to see on the front panel.
Boeings 25-00 building HVAC upgrades included:
VFD’s on the supply and return fans of the air handling units, VFD’s on pump packages for chillers, VFD’s on the cooling tower fans, and new chiller controls to replace obsolete panels.
Chiller panel replacements on five 1200 ton Carrier chillers:
We used Micro Systems Control panels because we were able to accomplish several items that the new OEM panels could not. Here are some of the distinguishing differences –
• 15.4” touch screen panels vs Carrier PIC 3 panels
• Chilled & condenser water GPM calculations at panel
• Chiller load (KW per ton)
• Motor starter auto transformer temperatures
