Cascade Manor, a non-profit retirement community in Eugene, Oregon, partnered with MacDonald-Miller to proactively address resident and employee health and safety concerns during the pandemic. The project focused on HVAC, plumbing, and building system improvements to enhance air quality, system reliability, and overall safety. MacDonald-Miller delivered integrated solutions across mechanical, plumbing, and controls:
Preventative Maintenance – Replaced small pumps, serviced chillers, and maintained the cooling tower to improve efficiency and extend equipment life.
Air Quality Upgrades – Increased hourly outside air exchanges and upgraded all MERV 8 filters to MERV 13, improving central air filtration and reducing airborne risk.
Air and Water Balance – Performed system checks in the auditorium to ensure compliance with COVID-related ventilation standards.
Specialized VRF Service – One of our Daikin Certified technicians analyzed and replaced a compressor in the facility’s VRF system, ensuring long-term performance for the new building.
Through proactive upgrades and system optimization, MacDonald-Miller helped Cascade Manor create a safer, healthier, and more resilient environment for residents and staff during a critical time.
