Project Description
The new Clackamas County Courthouse replaces the original 1936 facility with a 250,000 SF, 16-courtroom campus designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and functionality for the growing community. The project dramatically expands capacity while creating a modern, sustainable civic space to serve the county for the next 50 years. MacDonald-Miller delivered integrated MEP solutions with a focus on early collaboration, complex system delivery, and sustainability:
Design-Assist – Partnered with the design team through a year-long pursuit, providing 50% Design Development documents as part of the bid package. This early engagement aligned constructability and cost, playing a key role in securing the project.
Complex Systems – Leveraged in-house engineering, detailing, fabrication, and installation to deliver mechanical and plumbing systems under an accelerated schedule, meeting demanding budget and timeline objectives.
Sustainability – Designed for LEED Gold certification and long-term resilience, the courthouse features a zero-carbon design, heat-recovery systems for domestic hot water, solar PV arrays across roof and parking areas, and a mass timber structure.
Through innovation, technical expertise, and integrated delivery, MacDonald-Miller provided the systems backbone for a courthouse that represents both a modern judicial facility and a sustainable investment in the future of Clackamas County.
