Microsoft
Thermal Energy Center
The Microsoft Thermal Energy Center is designed for a 10,500-ton chilled water plant with heat recovery and geothermal energy exchange to support the new East Campus Modernization, which consists of 17 new buildings (approx. 3,000,000 square feet) on a 72-acre site.
This project features 875 geowells drilled 550 ft underground and uses the earth’s constant temperature to heat and cool Microsoft’s campus.
The Thermal Energy Center is anticipated to achieve a 50% reduction in energy consumption compared to a typical utility plant!
