The Best Systems Are
Designed That Way

The principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer are an essential part of every mechanical engineering solution. Just as important is an understanding of your objectives for the functioning and operating costs of your building. As a contractor that builds, installs, commissions and maintains facilities, MacMiller’s engineering staff brings innovation and practical intelligence to every design project.

Beyond CAD

For our 2-D schematic designs, our engineers use AutoCad2009 with our in-house block libraries. For dynamic 3D renderings, we utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM provides a collaborative work environment for the complete design team – architects, surveyors, engineers and others – to share knowledge and track changes in real time. This provides for an integrated design process and leads to a more cost-effective project.

Advanced Modeling

Modeling has always been used to ensure that design and construction decisions deliver value – from initial costs to the life cycle of your building. WIth BIM, a 3D virtual model allows you to analyze projected energy usage, tour your systems via animations and understand the leanest way to build with construction sequencing. BIM provides a fully coordinated project design model with cost estimates, quantity schedules, area charts, material specifications and phasing schedules – and a reliable design change management tool.

"We promote a collaborative approach to design. With our Integrated Project Delivery system, we allow all team members to have input."
