Committed to the Best

Why work for MacDonald-Miller? At MacMiller, it’s personal. We take our work seriously, and we seriously enjoy working with each other.

We put our employees first because we know they are the company. We appreciate the time, energy, skills, ingenuity, and dedication of every single one of our employees. We show our love and gratitude throughout the year with – our Macfest Employee Appreciation Party, Mac90 Happy Hours, BBQ Events, Softball Teams, Onsite Ping-Pong Tournaments, Health Challenges, Aloha Shirt Fridays, and more.

What does a MacMillian look like? We look for the person who values integrity, creativity, growth, excellence, and community. Someone who believes in our mission to work with each other to make buildings work better. If you are smart and motivated, we want to meet you!

How do we create this company culture? We are not a company of lone rangers. We are a team that wants to work together, sharing knowledge and expertise across departments, to help arrive at one common goal – to be the best in the Pacific Northwest.

Years with MacMiller:
Approaching 17 years on 1/3/17

My most memorable moment:
My most memorable day at MacMiller was in 2006 when I was working on the Washington Square high-rise project in Bellevue. I was riding the man lift up to the 24th floor when it got stuck between level 16 and 17. The lift was packed with people, amplifying two of my biggest fears. Heights and confined spaces. After over an hour of being trapped, the operator let us crawl out the top hatch to get to level 17. For the last 8 months of that job, I took the stairs all the way to the top.

Bring it on!
To overcome my fear of heights and tight spaces, I have zip lined, rode the great wheel, and competed in a 5k mud run with height and confined space obstacles – and paragliding is on the list for this year. I still hold my breath on a man lift, but at least I stopped schlepping up 24 flights of stairs to avoid it.

We’re a winning team

We are a 2015 Finalist for “Best Places to Work in Washington”, in large part because our atmosphere is one of creativity and camaraderie, where the level of dedication is matched by the amount of fun we have!
